Imagine that you already had an instrument within you, an instrument that had the power to ground you, calm you, connect you, give you strength, and give you, that's right, VOICE! This is not about chanting or OMing or new-age music, this is about understanding the power of your voice in mindfulness meditation. Come and learn how to use the instrument you carry every single day to help you begin or deepen your meditation practice! Meditation is widely acknowledged for its countless psychological, physiological and spiritual benefits and has been proven to literally change the brain! However, when blended with music the practice can become a more integrated, kinesthetic experience resulting in a deeper sense of relaxation, focus, balance, and connection.
Our workshops are a wonderful way to explore group meditation and ensemble music-making in an open, encouraging and non-judgmental environment. Techniques in mindfulness and meditation are explored within the group dynamic using breath work, vocalism, and even musical gesture. You will explore your own relationship with your voice and ensemble vocalism through singing in unison, harmony, and aural meditation.
"The experience of vocal meditation in Mollie's workshop was total joy. I felt at once deeply rooted in a resonant bodily experience, and completely freed of self consciousness around my body. I've practiced meditation for some time, and have always wanted to practice singing. Mollie blends and guides the two practices wonderfully. I felt buoyed in my own voice by the voices of those around me - it was powerful and sweet."

| "I attended Mollie's meditation workshop at an especially low point in which I felt scattered and diffused. Through a series of carefully crafted breathing and vocal exercises Mollie brought me first to a foundation of mindfulness then to a place of empowerment and finally emerging with a renewed sense hopefulness. I highly recommend "Music as Meditation" to anyone looking to center and ground themselves using only the simple power within their own voice." Krystal "I went in with an open mind and left with a sense of physical well-being, a deeper connection to my breath and an even more open mind. There was great joy in the discovery of a communal voice. It was a safe, stimulating place to explore a sound generated not from rehearsals or fear of staying on pitch, but from a sound generated by a group of individuals creating an energy that outwardly filled a room and inwardly bolstered my spirit. I've been able to carry that feeling with me; I've relished it. This was a unique shared experience." Josh |
